About CraftShape

What this is

Minecraft is made of cubes, and cubes are bad at curves. Drawing a circle, a dome or a smooth arch by eye almost always produces a shape that looks lopsided from the ground. CraftShape solves that by calculating the shape properly: every blueprint here is produced by a deterministic algorithm that decides, block by block, which cells belong to the shape.

Because the layouts are calculated rather than stored, the same settings always give the same result, every block count shown is the real count for that shape, and any size works — not just the handful of sizes someone happened to draw.

How it works

• Circles and ovals use cell-centre distance testing, which is what gives a symmetrical outline with no stray blocks.
• Spheres and domes are sliced into horizontal layers, so you build one flat circle at a time and never guess at the curve.
• Colours — gradients and pixel art — are matched in CIELAB, a colour space where numeric distance matches how different two colours look to the eye.
• Counts come from the finished layout, so the calculator and the blueprint never disagree.

Privacy and cost

There is no account, no upload and no tracking of your builds. Settings live in the page address, which is why a blueprint can be shared as a link, and your recent configurations are stored only in your own browser. Images you convert to pixel art are processed on your device. The site is free and supported by advertising.
