Why perceptual blending matters
Mixing two colours by averaging their red, green and blue values produces bands that look uneven — the middle usually goes muddy. This generator converts both ends into CIELAB, a colour space designed so that equal numeric steps look like equal visual steps, blends there, and only then finds the closest real block for each step. That is why the sequence looks evenly spaced on the wall rather than on paper.
Using a gradient in a build
- Skies and backdrops: run the gradient vertically, lightest at the top.
- Statues and reliefs: a grayscale gradient gives you shading blocks that genuinely differ in brightness.
- Terrain blending: use the wood and natural palette to fade one biome's blocks into another over 8 to 16 blocks.
Fewer blocks, better blend
It is tempting to use as many blocks as possible. In practice four to eight distinct blocks across a strip look smoother than twelve, because each step is clearly different and the transition reads as deliberate.
