How to build a Minecraft sphere
A sphere is a stack of circles. The generator tests the centre of every block against the 3D distance to the sphere's middle: if that distance is inside the radius the block is part of the ball, and for a hollow sphere it must also be outside the smaller inner radius set by your shell thickness. Because every distance is measured from the exact centre, the result is symmetrical in all three directions.
A build order that works
- Place a marker column the full height of the sphere, and mark the four compass directions.
- Build the widest layer first — it is the layer in the middle of the height and it anchors everything else.
- Work outwards from the middle, up and down, one ring at a time.
- Use the repeat hint: where consecutive layers are identical, build the same ring for each one without re-reading the plan.
- Cap the top and bottom last, then remove your scaffolding.
Hollow shell thickness
A 1 block shell is the lightest on resources but can look ragged at small diameters. A 2 or 3 block shell reads as a smooth curve and gives you material to carve doors and windows out of later.
