Minecraft Spiral Staircase Generator

See exactly where the step goes on every layer of a spiral staircase, with step counts, rotation per layer and a side elevation that tracks your position.

Layer 1 of 20. Bottom to top • front edge at the bottom of the grid (north).

How the spiral is calculated

Each layer rotates the step by a fixed number of degrees, worked out from the diameter and the rotation you chose. The generator keeps the blocks that fall inside the ring between the inner opening and the outer diameter and inside the current angular wedge, with a small overlap so consecutive steps always connect — no gaps you cannot jump.

Building it in game

  1. Build the centre column (or mark the open well) for the full height first.
  2. Place layer 1's step, then step up one block and place the next.
  3. Check the side elevation whenever you lose your place — it shows the current layer.
  4. Add railings after the steps are in, following the outer edge of the ring.

Matching a tower

Set the outer diameter to the tower's interior width. For a 15 block tower with 1 block walls, use 13 here. The staircase then hugs the wall with no wasted space.
