Why constant-radius curves look better

Freehand curves drift: the road gets wider on one side, then narrows, and the eye picks it up immediately. This generator measures each block's distance from a single centre point and keeps the blocks whose distance falls inside the road band and inside the angle you asked for. Because every block is measured from the same centre, the inside and outside edges stay exactly parallel.

Laying it out in game

  1. Place a temporary marker at the centre of the turn — everything is measured from it.
  2. Mark the two straight roads the curve has to join.
  3. Lay the kerb ring first; it is the hardest line to correct later.
  4. Fill the road surface between the kerbs.
  5. Remove the centre marker and add lamps or fences on the kerb.

Radius rules of thumb

  • Garden path: 5–10 blocks.
  • Village street: 12–20 blocks.
  • Highway or rail sweep: 30–60 blocks.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a smooth curved road in Minecraft?
Use a constant radius rather than freehand curves. This generator draws a circular arc band of your chosen width, so the inner and outer edges stay parallel all the way round and the road never kinks.
What radius should I use for a road curve?
For a walking path, 8 to 15 blocks feels natural. For a minecart or highway curve, 20 to 40 blocks gives a sweeping bend that still fits in a normal town.
How wide should the road be?
Three blocks for a footpath, five to seven for a village street with kerbs, nine or more for a grand avenue with a central line.
What is the kerb for?
The kerb is a border ring outside the road surface in a contrasting block. It defines the edge, hides the ragged step of the curve, and gives you somewhere to place lamps.
Can I make a quarter turn instead of a full circle?
Yes. Set the angle to 90 for a quarter turn, 180 for a U-turn, or 360 for a full roundabout. Only the wedge you asked for is drawn.
How do I join a curve to a straight road?
Line up the straight road with the flat end of the arc. Because the arc ends on an exact block boundary, the widths match and no patching is needed.
